for this post im going to write about FASTING
mostly for my non muslim friends that always asked me that how we muslim can managed to keep ourselves steady without food and drinks. we fast for like more than 13 hours, yet still do normal routine activities for 30 days straight. well, for us, its easy because we are trained since we are little. as little as 6 year old. that time we only fast for half day. lol
we muslim fast before dawn till sunset. usually at 5.45am to 7.15 pm depend on the time of year. usualy its last for 13 hours +
ok for some of you who want to try fasting like we do, here are some simple step that you could try.
for the first day try having your breakfast before 7am. big meal really helps. then try to restrain yourself from eating or drinking anything untill 3pm. after that you can "break your fast" after fasting for half a day proceed to eat as usual. this is step one. take a break for a day. repeat step one for 3 or 4 times.
step two. just like step one, but after 3 pm you only eat a small meal. no more meal after that, except for drinks untill 7pm. repeat step two for 3 or 4 times
step three. just like step two, but after small meal at 3pm, just have 2 or 3 glasses of plain water untill 7 pm. if you can manage this, then you are almost there.
step four. this is getting harder. just like step three but, after 3pm, no meal for you, only ONE glass of plain water. "break you fast" at 7pm. hold on, just a bit more.
step five. the final one. have your breakfast before 7am and fast untill 7pm. (the best is you have your breakfast before the muslim subuh prayer time usually before 6 and break the fast together with the muslim during the maghrib prayer time usually at 7 something.)
the most important thing is mindset people. you can accomplish everything as long as you put your mind to it. even for us muslim, sometimes its hard to fast when it is not ramadhan. but when its ramadhan, we managed to do it. its because we have already done it before, every year so, our mindsets had been set up that it can be done easily, so we can. furthermore, when most of the people around you fasts, there is no temptation of food around you. haha.. if you already tried but couldnt complete it now, just so you know that even us do badly in our first attempt to fasts. =P
so, to my all curious non muslim friend, you can try these now.
as you all know, fasting is good for you. good for your health and mental state too.
