Aussie trip august 2016

Assalammualaikum all
holaaaa... Entry yg dinjanjikan dah tiba..
psal travel yg aku g sebelum masuk uitm bulan 8 tahun lepas. satu family pegi aussie. 8 hari. Sydney dan Brisbane.

1st day
flight kitorang dari KLIA naik MAS. flight pagi dlm pkul 9 lebih mcmtu. journey lebih kurg 8 jam. kitorg sampai airport Sydney sana 8pm local time. diorg 1 jam lebih awal dr msia. so means that 7pm waktu msia. sbb waktu tu end of spring, mmg kt luar tu dah gelap gila dah.. sejuk. porbably dlm 10-12c mcmtu. dari situ amek teksi tuju ke apartment. ktorg duk kt area surry hills. lebih kurg stgh jam dari airport. sampai je kt apartment tu kitorg agak terkejut sbb apartment tu besar. more than enough. ada 5 bilik. memula aku igt akan share bilik dgn pah, tido atas sofa ke ape.. tapi tak. katil pun siap lebih lg. lolzs. tapi bathroom satu je. nasib baik bawah tangga ada satu powder room, tp xda air panas. nasib la, janji ada jamban kalau emergency. malam tu kitorg masak megi je. dah letih la katakan. whole day journey. tapi rumah ni takde heater lah pulak. cuma ada air panas utk paip dan lampu pemanas utk bathroom saje.

Siap ada outdoor dining dgn port BBQ lagi 

day 2
sbb rumah takda heater, awal pagi tu aku & abah g the nearest supermarket, nasib baik dah buka, beli 2 unit portable heater. sbb mak sejuk sgt tak tahan.  pagi tu breakfast nasi dgn lauk brahims
then, kitorg keluar dari apartment pkul 10suku. otw nak ke bus stop tu ktorg singgah supermarket yg tadi, beli opal card, iaitu kad macam touch & go utk transport. kt sni public semua pakai kad. kitorg naik bas sampai ke central railway station. Ambil pakej hop on hop off utk 2 hari & 1 tmpat(sealife). hop on hop off ni bas 2 tingkat, kalau nak naik kena beli tiket macam pass ikut hari. so berapa hari yg kita bayar tunaik turun la bnyk kali pun, boleh, unlimited sepanjang tempoh yg valid tu la yg kita dah bayar tu. dia punya route tu akan stop kat tempat2 yg tertentu, selalunya tempat yg menarik. so xrisau dah pasal tambang, stop & jadual bas. mmg selalu ada dlm lebih kurg stgh jam sekali. ada jugak pakej byr sekali dgn beberapa tempat menarik yg kita nak masuk. so kalo mcmtu jadi murah sikit. kitorg naik hop on bas tu around 11.30 lalu jalan2 dan tempat2 menarik mcm Darling Harbour, Harbour Bridge.

kt sni kitorg makan bekal roti sandwich. lepas tu naik balik bas dan turun kt Botanical Garden. kt situ tgk taman & bunga2, pokok2. jumpa cafe dan mengopi dulu....

lepastu gerak ke bus stop tadi, naik bas balik ke central railway station. Abg, kak, humai dgn hannah diorg jumpa kawan kak humai kt tempat lain. diorg xfollow balik dgn kitorg. Diorg jln sendiri. So, kitorg dari situ naik bas semula ke Surry hill kawasan apartment. tmpat turun lain sikit dari tmpt naik tu sbb situ jln one way. so masa turun ni lalu kedai turki halal jual kebab. beli la sikit. kebab ada, burger ada, ayam goreng pun ada. sampai rumah masak nasi sikit, dgn lauk kari letak telur rebus. so makan nasi dgn makan sikit benda yg beli kt kedai turki tu tadi. Abg balik lmbat. smpai msa tu dkt kul 10 kot. lepas tu kawan kak humai pun ada dtg skali. diorg tlg setting simkad utk data. jenuh jugak buat. last skali cuma boleh baut kt iphone je. kt android taktahu kenapa tak boleh. kakak punya phone boleh je sbb suruh org kedai tu tlg buatkan. bila baut sendiri tka jadi la taktahu kenapa. jenuh google. lewat gak tido mlm tu.

day 3
Pagi bangun bfast megi. Pkul 9.45 gerak keluar apartment. macam biasa jln ke bus stop, naik bas ke central. Naik Hop On Hop Off hari last. Hari ni masuk ke Sea life kat Darling Harbour. Masuk Sealife tgk pameram mcm Aquaria. bnyk tunjuk pasal ikan, & haiwan2 laut Austrralia yg lain mcm penguin, manatee, etc. Masa awal2 masuk tu baru perasan ipad abg hilang. rasanya tertinggal kat bas hop on hop off tadi. so cari nombor kt tiket & call pjbt diorg. luckily ada. so abg akn g amek lpas kuar sealife nnt.

Lepas habis tengok dlm Sealife tu, abg, kak humai & hannah diorg g ke pjbt Hop On Hop Off tu, nak retrieve ipad. Jumpa kemudian kt tempat lain sbb kitorg nak beli tiket naik bot nak pusing2 kawasan tu dgn nk tgk Sydney Opera House tu. Lepas beli tiket makan bekal nasi lemak brahims kt tepi sungai tu je. lepas tu naik bot. bot ni lebih kurg mcm Hop On Hop Off jugak. dia bnyk berhenti kt banyak jeti. satu tiket naik la brapa bnyk kali pun dlm masa yg ditetapkan. abg & family dia naik dr tempat lain. masa tu jumpa atas bot. masa pusing2 tu tgk la Sydney Opera House dari atas bot. best.

lepas tu turun kat Circular Quay. Jalan2 sikit. tgkp gambar sikit. bnyk jumpa org melayu kt sini. luls. Beli Fish & chip bawak balik. Dari situ naik ketapi balik ke central. Dari central naik bas sampai ke Surry Hill area apartment. Abg singgah beli pizza, aku beli ayam kt kedai kebab turki tu. Balik makan benda tu je. nasik ada la jugak masak sikit sapa yg nk makan nasi. mkn dgn lauk sotong dlm tin. malam tu tido awal. mmg letih. flat out.

day 4.
Lepas brakfast, pkul 10 singgah coles utk top up Opal Card. masa ni gak amek kesempatan repair kasut mak sbb lekang smlm. nasib baik ada kasut spare. Lepas tu dari central, amek train ke Blackwood. Journey about 45 mins kot mcmtu. Dari situ amek bas ke sanctuary, Featherdale Wildlife Park utk tgk binatang. macam2 binatang ada dgn ada mini show sikit. mcm biasa kitorg mkn bekal dlm tu.

 Macam biasa. Lunch bekal. Jimat & halal.

Habis tgk binatang dlm kul 3.45 lepas tu balik ke apartment. penat. masa dlm train pun nak tertido. waktu da turun dr bas, msa jln balik, singgah kt kedai makanan turki tu. beli makanan. sbb mlm tu xnk masak. nak kemas2 dah esok nak gerak awal nk g Brisbane pulaks. Beli ayam & buat megi je. mlm tu pack barang dan tido awal. tp takda la awal sgt. kul 12 gak baru lelap.


day 5
Bangun pkul 4 pagi dan bersiap. Check out dari apartment pkul 7suku dgn maxi taxi. Sampai Airport dan check in. Airport dia ni besar, banyak terminal. lain gate lain terminal. macam asing2. waktu ni makan bekal megi & makanan semalam yg xhabis. Flight kul 9.45pg. journey dlm 2 jam lebih. Naik Qantas.(Australia pnya local airline company). Sampai Airport Brisbane pkul 11pg. Beli Go Card(sama macam Opal card, tapi kt sini go card. lain region lain company). Dari Airport naik maxi taxi ke Kangaroo Point, tmpat apartment kitorg. Kali ni apartment kitorg ada 2. satu apartment 2 bilik. so masing2 dpt bilik. Apartment unit sebelah sebelah tapi takde pintu through mcm hotel tu.

Breakfast bekal 

Lepas check in tu, solat, lepas tu turun dari apartment, pegi ke sungai belakang tu, naik bot ke city centre. Bot tu free. City Hopper. sapa2 pun boleh naik bila2. mmg totally free xyah bayar, tapi ada stop2 tertentu. Smpai kt situ kitorg tuju ke QueenStreet, satu tempat yg mmg famous utk Brisbane city centre. Ronda2 kt situ sampai 8stgh malam, pastu balik. Sempat beli beras. Sampai apartment masak nasi.

Day 6
pkul 8stgh, lepas bfast kt cafe diorg, naik maxi taxi. Hari ni whole day di Gold Coast. Perjalanan dlm sejam lebih. Ronda2 jap tgk town. singgah tgk beach dia yg famous tu. mmg cantik pasir dia. kuning keemasan. mmg gold. lepas tu kitorg ke Sea World. Akan ada kt sini dari pagi sampai petang. Kt sini mmg macam2 ada. kebanyakan pasal haiwan laut & tepi pantai. Ada bnyk show lagi. Memang best sini. Masa kt Sydney haritu Sealife mostly haiwan laut je ni. Sni semua ada. Siap ada show lagi. Ada fun ride macam theme park. memang best. Kt sini yg plg enjoyable. bagi kami orang muda la. org tua takde la rasa sgt kot. takat tgk show tu bleh la.

Day 7
Pkul 9.45 pg, lepas Bfast naik bot. Tak naik yg City hooper free tu, tapi naik bot yg bayar. macam bas jugak. dia bnyk stop. kena bayar guna Go Card tu. Pegi st Lucia. Tmpat Universiti abah dulu. University Of Queensland. Dari jeti tu jln la ke taman perumahan, tk rumah sewa abah dulu. ada sampai sekarang. Jln2 yg selalu lalu, lepas tu Tunjuk satu rumah yg asalnya dulu adalah rumah persatuan pelajar malaysia dulu(now dah pindah). Jalan jauh gak. Sampai satu park ni stop utk lunch.

Lepas tu continue jalan masuk dalam campus.  Universiti ni mmg sempoi. takda pagar pun. org pun bebas keluar masuk. besar kawasan dia. Cari fakulti architecture. mmg masih bangunan sama cuma baru renovate interior.

lepas tu jln lagi sikit, kul 3 naik bot dari stesen universiti g ke Queen Street shopping souvenir sikit. Lepas tu aku ngn pah balik awal, yg lain jln lagi. Lapar pulak mghrib tu. Goreng telur mkn ngn roti. Bancuh air. Lpas tu mlm tu bila semua dah balik makan nasi habiskan beras & lauk. Mkn kebab ada bwk balik sikit.

letih rasa mcm nk tido awal, tapi rasa mcm nk tgkp gmbar kt luar tu scenery malam. rugi pulak. esok dah nak balik. Pegi gak la. Awal gk mlm tu tido dlm kul 11 lebih lepas balik dr tgkp gmbar tu.

Day 8
Check out pkul 10pg. Beg letak kt reception dulu. sbb teksi dtg pkul 3. ada masa lagi. Kitorg jln balik ke city naik city hopper. Jln2 tgk kawasan tepi sungai. Naik Eye of Brisbane.

Lunch kt foodcourt sini. Kebetulan ada kedai halal. waktu ni mmg best makan.

Lepas makan naik bot balik ke Apartment, sampai pkul 3ptg van dah tggu. Journey dlm 40 mins mcmtu ke Airport. Boarding pkul 6ptg ke Sydney dulu naik Qantas. Sampai Sydney pkul 8mlm mcmtu. Dari situ, dlm pkul 9.40mlm bertolak ke KL. Sampai Kl pkul 4.40pg.

So itulah cerita aku....

Design Village mall Pulau Pinang

Assalammualaikum all
so this entry will be about Design Village, the open air concept mall at Bandar Cassia, Batu Kawan, Pulau Pinang.
The entry will mostly about architecture. Being me who hates shopping and an architectural student. That topic is the only thing that can be discussed here.

Design Village is a new concept of outlet mall, macam kt JPO. never been to JPO, but thats what people said. its an branded outlet. You can find all sorts of branded boutique here with a lot of choices with quite cheap too. or so they said. lebih kurang macamtu.

What interesting is that the design itself. a outlet mall with interior/exterior concept. open air. Setahu aku, takda lagi this kind of thing kt Malaysia ni. tapi kt luar negara its quite common.
Design yg cantik, lain dari yg lain.

For this entry not really going to talk about the aesthetic so much, but more to practicality. Honestly its an interesting concept, but its not really going to work.  WHy? ok takpe kita tgk dulu out look dia.

I went there not because i want to go shopping or what. Just following people. Want to see whats all the hype. Orang bercakap ttg benda ni, so might as well go look myself. For us in built environment people, theres been quite a lot people talking both good and bad things about this. orang biasa akan cuma cakap cantik & style. certain2 org akan cakap benda yang tak elok pasal design dia. cth bocor la, tak elok la, surau kecik la, jauh la etc. well im going to tell you just that.

Kt depan ni tak nampak welcoming sgt. Maybe sbb yg depan ni tak bukak lagi

 Between the blocks, the space filled with greeneries, can also be used as communal space

There are one or two that is both empty, spacious and covered with roof structures. can also act as exhibition or promotional mini expo.

 Theres plenty of kiosk selling snacks. Chatime is one of it.

The overall layout. Banyak lagi yg kosong tak bukak lagi 

Ada food court yg macam nak taknak aje. ada gak beberapa food truck. Proper eateries mcm starbuck, coffee bean, wendy's

Theres plenty of parking. Tapi yg banyaknya dlm building(multilevel) yg berbayar. sadly takda touch & go. koman betul. This layout yg dibuka. There another wing yg belum bukak. maybe tak siap sepenuhnya lagi. lagipun yg ni pun belum semua lot operational lagi. Hopefully wing yg baru tu ada proper food court dan bnyk lagi F&B outlet.

 basicly its just like shophouse. shop and corridor. With a few building blocks.

Boleh kata mcam nilai tiga, tapi compact & moden. Kt corridor pun ada kipas. sbb panas kan takda aircond.

The corridor lacks overhang or shading device. Waktu ni tak panas, redup je. Just imagine when its super hot noon/evening or its heavy rain. mesti panas. Bila, hujan pulak, mesti tempias.

 Theres quite a lot of seating which is good. But a lot of them kt luar. so kalau panas terik/hujan dah tak boleh duduk. silly isnt it? Thats why i said that this design did not consider the climate factor.

 ada byk kipas along the corridor. Ada la rasa berangin sikit.

 Certain ruang tengah (a bit like courtyard) have roof structures covering them.

Again the roof structure is so high and its not wide enough to cover the place if there is heavy rains with heavy winds, or evening sun.

 Waterbodies are well placed all over the mall. This one is a little too big isnt it? what for?
cooling effect maybe.

 There plenty of lots that still not open yet.

 Theres even a playground. That green is not grass, its artificial turf if im not mistaken. 

Masa pegi ni weekdays so, tak ramai sgt org.

Surau dia kecik. tempat wudhuk kecik. dgn lantai dia bertakung air. FAIL!.

aku plg benci kalau org buat surau tak betul ni. Kalau pegi sini, baik takpayah solat sini. cari tempat lain. mmg kat situ tak masjid or surau. tmpat baru tu. mmg takda apa. kena pergi jauh sikit.

Building envelope ni style. its like a mesh/fabric.

So for the conclusion, its a great design but it will not be a 100% workable. Of course its so hard to achieve it with all sorts of problems and factors. But things like that shouldnt be overlooked. its so simple kot. I know the problem is budget constrain. But if you wanted something beautiful and it works, its not gonna be cheap. if its cheap and beautiful, it probably wont work. if its workable and cheap, it ain gonna be beautiful. So, theres no helping it. nak buat, buat betul2. for me whats the point of really flashy design if its not practical? For me its form follow function. you invest on the more important stuff, bab cantik tu letak tepi jap. kalau ada duit, then proceed.

I know that, if we did not at least try to be creative, sampai bila pun malaysian architecture tak akan maju, tak akan evolve. But in the long run, can we cope with the maintenance? Climate is a really important factors in design. Thats why it will not be the same to apply design of other country which have different climate to put here in malaysia.
