Urban Design, Architecture and Planning

so entry kali ni, isinya ilmiah.

im going to tell you about what we learned in studio 01 which is Urban Design.
sebelum nak faham apa itu urban design kena faham dulu apa itu architecture sedalam dalamnya. dan kena jugak faham apa itu regional or town planning. because this wil go quite detail. like a advance lecture for introduction to urban design. lol. jk
but still its detail.

ok i assume you all already know what architecture is all about. to make it simple, architecture is vast, but specifically about building and the human interaction. its both technical and aesthetic.
Planning (town/rural/regional planning) is also mainly architecture, but in bigger scale. Design large scale, mosty the zoning, also mostly technical. Planning , like architecture is build everything from scratch. Urban Design on the other hand, enhancing things that are already there. mostly by injecting programme to the existing urban context (usually its the city/town), to eradicate the current problem and make it viable til the future according to the planned projection.

Urban Design is like a bit both combination of architecture and planning  There are no accurate definitve statement to urban design, just like architecture. its vast. but unlike architecture nor planning, its not too technical. Urban design is the process of shaping the physical setting for life in cities, towns and villages. It is the art of making places. It involves the design  of buildings, groups of buildings, spaces and landscapes, and establishing the processes that make successful development possible. The basic fundamental for Urban Design to to think. its more like a philosophy. We design according to the  issue & potentials, theories. by that, producing design strategy, typology, morphology and the the actual design. The things that we touch on urban design mainly its about how to create a vibrant city.
For example a city is not lively enough, so what is the issue there, the problems that make the city unlively? maybe its because there are no public ammenities. so that is the issue that we should tackle. and we identify the potential and make do what's there, utilising it to our favour and develop it. for example there are pedestrian walkway that link a lot of place but the people did not use it. so we can enhance it so people will use it, to promote walkability and more lively and vibrant city life. so the strategy is we make a public park, for the people can have grrem open space for view, a leisure, etc. we can enhance, beautify, and create more pedestrian walkway so people will use it. Those two complement each other and will pursue the same goal of creating a vibrant city.

that is only one example. Its very hard for us architecture based to grab the concept of Urban Design. To tune our head and to think like Urban Designer, rather that architecture. The architecture scenic view that we from the architecture student however, have certain similarities. mostly design ideas & design elements. For instance, to inject a programme to a certain area, for example, park we need the necessary design elements such as more seatings, landscape elements of hardscape and softscape, boulevard or plaza, installation, etc. The flow of people, the views, path, quality of space etc.

in terms of education, The analysis of the urban design is a bit like architectural but now it evolves to infographic. you know how nowadays infographic is a thang yea. I think the most technical you can get about urban design is the financial part. not really about the technical & realism of it, but basic consideration of the ROI(reutnr of investment) example who the developer, who will fund the porject & development, and what kind of benefit that entity will get, how long and how much will take to collect to get tback the initial capital, based on the projection that we set up. As long as its viable and have a little study based on fact and figures. sometimes it is fabricated. of course, nama pun tgh study kan.
Speaking about the final product, . And the the urban design final product mostly collages of pictures to form design. because basicly you did not design building, or facade, or the space inside, only the general idea of those things. so you just match any photo and edit it to suite the context and collage everything, put all the people,s cars, shadows and everything like architectural perspective..

lepas hantar assigment isnin lepas mmg best. syok je. siap pun dkt kul 5 lebih. hntr kul 5.. mmg tak la nak balik haritu. so aku follow plan B, balik esoknya. tak la sampai malam. da la hujan.. dlm seminggu ni mmg hujan je kejenye. dgr kata kt tempat lain pun senitasa hujan. jadi molek la aku tak balik haritu. lepas hntr je assgmen ptg tu, baru la dpt g mkn. aku xmkn lagi sjak bfast pagi tadi tu.
lol im like that. selagi tak siap, selagi tu tak fikir benda lain, especially bila nk submit/print on that day. you know how i really love food, my priority is to eat. tapi sbb keja, it the other way. eating is the least important thing. masa makan tu pkul 6 hujan lebat gila. mkn kt mamak. ;lapo nasik la katana. mana nak cari nasi lauk lewat petang mcmtu. malam tu aku rehat la. letih kot ngntuk. kemas2 sikit barang2, tapi terlelap. pagi tu bangun sambung lagi kemas2 barang dan cuci workstation aku kt bwh kt ruang tamu. bilik dah kemas dgn roomate sebelum dia balik haritu. workstation tu je belum kemas. sbb pc dah cabut tanggal semua senang la nak cuti meja tu dengan bawah dia.

siap punya siap tengahari jugak aku balik. kul 12 baru gerak. sepanjang jalan hujan. ada certain2 tempat jamm teruk gila. tapi takde ape pun. hampeh. siot je.. penat kot drive sorang2. da la xleh speeding laju sikit sbb hujan. so ak sampai umah dlm kul 6 gak la.

cuti ni banyak pulak benda aku nak buat. serius banyak gila. cuti sekejap je sebulan tapi berlambak benda aku nk kena setelkan, rasanya macam cuti ni tak cukup je?. eh aku ni mana pernah cukup cuti bagi la 4-5 bulan pun, xpernah puas. lol
antara benda yg aku nak baut ialah update blog ni, psl bnyk benda dlm kepala aku nk luahkan dan nak share. cth psl belajar ni, psal architecture, psl master.. (aku ada janji ke ngan korang nk share hasil kerja aku dulu2 masa part 1 bsc degree tu? lol. ni nak share gak ke master 01 punya kerja? aku pnya kerja ni biasa je, bukan power pun. cukup2 nak lepas je. nak tunjuk pun segan), lepas tu nak cuci gambar masa kawin kak aku dulu yg xsempat nk buat, nak cuci gambar  travel yg sebelum masuk sem haritu( aku ada janji kan kt korg nak cita tu kt blog kan? takpe yg tu aku igt, nantikan ye), nak buat research sikit pasal isu2 yang bakal aku buat utk proposal design thesis sem 3 nanti (lambat lagi tapi better start early, ni dari advice kawan aku sendiri),  nak baca pasal benda2 ilmiah yg boleh tambah ilmu pengetahuan dan kematangan fikiran,(yg ni lecturer aku masa master baru2 ni yg sedarkan aku betapa pentingnya banyak membaca terutama bab2 falsafah, penting tu, kalau ada masa aku buat la entry dlm blog ni nanti), ada nak buat design sikit, aku ada idea dan nak luahkan idea tu dlm bentuk plan dan form 3d (ni saja suka2 nak buat, tapi mmg niat lama dah), nak pegi ofis jap nak tgk progress kerja2 yg aku tinggal haritu apa jadi(boleh la aku belajar sikit2 sbb rugi la kan kalau tak tahu), dan even cuti ni pun aku akan follow family aku travel. ada la, nanti aku buat entry dalam blog ni. korg tggu je k. pegi kejap je, tgh bulan 2 ni, so in shaa Allah sempat aku tulis sebelum bukak sem bln mac ni. oh baru je dpt yg assgment yg aku buat kalut nak hantar haritu nk kena buat ammendment sikit. adoi... dengan ada assigment subjek yg lain yg dah siap lama dulu pun nak kena recompose utk compilation mcm buku. mati la nak... memang cuti tapi tak cuti la akuuu..... macam ni la master student archy. sentiasa sibuk. cuti pun sibuk.

ok la kengkawan aku stop dulu. banyak kerja nak buat. letih haritu pun tak hilang lagi. nak rehat lagi, buat kerja lagi. hahahaa

Dah habis satu sem

how ya doin?
sorry for not updating for quite some time
ive been very busy. like hell. nama pun hujung sem. dengan design, assgnment subject, final exam etc.
whew. glad it was over.
well, not quite, because there are still assignment that need to be submitted tomorrow. but oh well, as long as final exam and review was over.

Im telling you Part 2 master ni mmg gila. its like it was back in final sem bsc, but much worse. very hectic. i finally managed to do it. hopefully everything went well and pass all subject. i didnt ask much, bukan nak score, but just to pass, tu pun dah good enough. its not that im lazy, complacent, but its really hard. i could barely survive. and its tougher when you are classrep, you need to not jsut think about yourself but 30++ other people of the studio. lol.

thats me with my final presentation for advance design 1 for the first semester studio subject. Urban Design. Its been quite a journey. something that i never felt before. ye lah, new place, new environment, new people.

Personally im quite satisfied with the end product. of course there's always a bit of 'i can do better than this if i have time' or 'i should do this and that instead of this' and 'theres a few things missing, i couldnt put it there'. but overall everything is just fine.

oh well enough story for now. ada assigment tak siap lag, but its past 12 already. esok nak kena hantar 2 assgnment yg xmula pun lagi. igt nak balik esok lepas asar. tp tgk la kalau assgnment boleh siap awal. kalau tak siap awal, dgn barang pun xkemas lagi, guane nak balik. malas nak balik lewat sgt nnt sampai malam. kalau sempat siap semua pun tapi letih payah gak. nk drive sorg ni 4 jam lebih..
jauh tu lama. so rasanya aku akan balik lusa la.....

i just to  update the blog since its been quite some time.
today is the new year. didnt celebrate it. too busy doing design and study for final paper.
of course im soo busy, but at one point its just to hard to continue, plus sleepy. so im taking a break by updating mah blog. penat do. macam muak dah. haha, its only been 1 sem. tak tahu lah yg nak mendatang ni. i hope i can continue doing the shits all over again like in bsc, but this time twice as hard.
dah mcm xde life do, buat keja pagi tghri, ptg, mlm, tgh mlm, tido lewat gila, bgun awal & repeat.(mcm la sebelum ni ada life sgt kan?)
i dont tale to tell, my life is just routine. probably during semester break, there will be some real story. oh i almost forgot, i do owe you an entry about travel. just before semester start i wen on a trip. will update about that when this semester is over. so stay tune okay?
so this is it fellas. im going to continue studying. buhbye

just finished crit 2 last thursday. was busy like hell, but ill just update ya'all since i dont want this blog be like krik krik...
everything is ok. well i dont mean it was going fine super smooth and all, of course there are a few hiccups here and there, but thats just regular thing for me. As long as i have things to show for the crit/tutorial, even just barely reach the minimum requirement thats good enough.
For yesterday's crit i dont really have all the requirement. but its okay, im not the only one. there's a bunch of people that dont have too. so its a relieve. lol

 ngantok tak cukup tido, lapa, kena titik lagi crit ni.

For this project, the first part for the site inventory, analysis of issue & potential, fact & figures, theories is by pair. because of this is urban study, the  site we get is kinda big, and due to time constrain, so thats the decision. we pair with the person of the site next to each person.but after the idea & concept, strategy, intervention and design, thats the point where we will split of to individual. so for this crit still in pair, after this we split up to our individual design.

for the past 3 weeks im really busy. its not like superhectic moving nonstop like before. just spend time on the pc doing design. before this, a semester break of 10 days, i just go back home for 5 days. Then doing design non stop for the rest of the cuti. but the result is kinda sad. tak banyak hasil pun walaupun buat kerja nonstop pagi, petang, malam. but thats expected. its always been the same case sebelum2 ni. typical me i guess. im not an efficient worker.

on friday i went KL tagging along with my friend that wanted to buy a custom spec pc. he choose idealtech in cheras. after that we went to big bad wolf at the mines, alang2 dah dekat kan.. so much book. if im not such a broke student, i would have buy a lot of books.

i only buy this 3. 2 architecture book and one book from my favourite author, enid blyton!~

INDERALOKA Studio Site Study Trip to Bandung

spt yg dijanjikan ni entry psl studio trip ke bandung

kitorg pegi 5 hari.  bertolak hari khamis, smpai isnin. tapi ada a few yg gerak awal. so diorg g 6 hari.
sbb nk tmbang murah jadi ktorg pecah 3 flight. rabu petang, khamis pagi dgn khamis ptg.
aku g yg khamis ptg. group ktorg mostly g khmis ptg. plg lewat.

dari puncak alam aku fawas ngn azie naik uber. flight kul 3.30. ktorg gerak dr palam kul 11 gak la. smpai KLIA2 dlm kul 12. walaupun smpai awal tapi kalut sikit. mujur flight delay dlm stgh jam. so smpat la gak. sbb mkn & solat tu buat lama kot. flight duration 2 jam. aku bli air mineral je.sampai sana dah maghrib. kul 7 lebih(local time) masa tu mmg dah gelap gila dah. dah isyak sbb sana gelap awal. time different diorg sejam awal. dari airport kitorg naik 2 teksi trus ke hotel.

sampai hotel berkumpul kt lobi jap sbb org yg pegang kunci bilik kitorg xbalik lagi. g jap bilik fiq & wan lepak jap, letak beg. lepas semua org da sampai, berkumpul utk short brief. aku xdgr da sbb letih dan lapo. lepas tu gerak g makaann.... yahuu.. makan beramai ramai. jalan kaki je, dekat je restoran kt belakang hotel. makan steak. lol

lepas tu jalan sikit g convenient store bli grub sikit, pecah duit.. lepas tu ada yg balik hotel, ada yg jln masing2. aku jln gak la sikit tgk kawasan dan pemandangan waktu malam.

lepas tu balik hotel, lepak lobi main kad. anas ajar main bluff. sempoi giler. lepas tu naik tido.

esoknya pkul 7stgh da ready kt lobi. xde bfast. sbb ktorg dok budget hotel. oh lupa nak bagitahu. hotel ktorg nama ibis budget kt jalan asia afrika. bila nama budget hotel tu mmg minimum la. tapi sbb dia branded, kualiti dia terjaga la. ala2 tune hotel la design dia. lawa, tapi bilik kecik. tp towel sabun semua disediakan. pintu pakai kad dan kna ada kad tu utk access lift.

 

rasa mcm lama pulak berkumpul pagi tu. aku ambil kesempatan beli kopi ni. 10k rupiah. lebih kur rm3 cmtu la. sedap. huuu

lepas briefing sikit2, sbb dah pecah site dan zon masing2 so each group gerak masing2 ke site. grouping follow balik group masa baut project 1 masterplan UM tu. ktorg gerak ke site sambil cari kedai mkn sbb xbfast lagi. mula2 gerak ke pasar baru sbb tu je mcm ok. nai kke tgkt atas food court tu. makanan situ xbest la. dgn pekerja2 diorg dok tarik2 org. rasa xselesa gila nk mkn. last2 pilih je tmpt dan mkn situ, xde la sedap mana pun. biasa je. xpela la asalkan makan. lepas ni ntah mcmana nk cari mkn bkn senang. kt sni xleh makan sebarangan. sakit perut kang naya.

lepas tu kitorg continue jalan utk buat site inventory. masa tu dah tghri. hari jumaat. zohor masuk dlm kul 12 lebih cmtu. tapi kitorg xp la solat jumaat sbb musafir. so kitorg teruskan perjalanan pusing2 site smbil2 ambil gmbar dan tgk2 issue & potential. sampai kt masjid ni, ktorg berhenti utk solat. kami laki g solat dlu, pompuan jaga barang.  lpas habis solat, gerak balik walaupun msih awal lg sbb nmpak mcm nak hujan.

 ada protes rakyat kpd kerajaan

masa otw, hujan turun, xlebat sgt tapi trpksa berteduh gak la. dlm stgh jam gak tggu. bila da lama dan hujan agak reda, ktorg gerak, xleh dok lama2. nasib baik aku ada baju hujan. topi pun ade. hehe.
tgh jalan ktorg sggh satu kedai ni.warunk upnormal nama dia. cafe hipster. kt jln braga. sbb ktorg belum lunch lagi. makan pagi tadi je. msa tu pukul 2.

lepas lepak lama gak la, ktorg pun balik. msih lg hujan renyai2. sampai hotel dlm kul 5stgh, trus naik bilik, trus mandi. dah kena hujan kan. lepas mandi, tidoooo.... dlm kul 7 camtu bangun, solat. mlm tu kuar makan kt tmpt smlm. tapi xramai la yg g, sbb ada yg xturun lg, ada yg try mkn kt tmpt lain, ada yg xturun mkn etc. smlm mkn steak, kali ni try nasik pulak. lepas balik tu, lepak lobi, lepas tu kumpul2 org g conveninet store beli makanan ringan. hoho. lpas balik tu, main kad jap. lpas tu lecturer dtg, sembang2 sikit psl finding hari ni, bncg dlm group masing2. lepas bncg kejap, naik bilik tido.

esok pagi berkumpul waktu sama kul 7stgh, tp aku smpai bwh 7.50. lol. pagi ni briefing by en bejo ktorg fhm yg ada flexibility dlm buat site, disebabkan site memula tak berapa best, so kali ni nak cari site yg lain sikit. tapi memula ktorg gerak ke tmpt smlm, jln braga, nak bfast kt warunk upnormal tu.
masa smbil tunggu makan tu bincang la psal site. so ktorg pilih site yg lain. bukan tmpt smlm. lgpn smlm tu bukan jln sgt. kejap je lalu. pastu salah jalan kelaur dari border site, hujan pulak, so xkira la. kali ni g site lain. pecah in pair 2 org. aku ngn fawas. lepas selesai makan, memula jln2 sesama, pastu pecah ikut site masing2. memula eja ngn eg, pastu kakyu ngn azie. lpas tu aku ngn fawas berdua. kawasan ktorg xda la jauh, cuma mcm patah balik, site ktorg dekat ngn hotel. ada beberapa potential kawasan kitorg. memula lalu satu kawasan tu xbest, sbb bnyk rumah n pejabat je, so kitorg tuka, jln depan lagi. jumpa satu kawasan ni mmg nmpk best. sbb kawasan commercial. ada yg unused, abandon, ada grafiti, ada satu jalan tu mmg org jual basikal je. fuh sempoi. lepastu xdan nak dok lama2 dah mendung. so kitorg pun nak balik. masalahnya waktu nak balik tu sesat pulak. pusing2 tempat sama je. tgk map tu mcm xbrpa nmpak, keliru. lepastu hujan la. nasib baik xlebat sgt. sbb dah mati akai punya pasai bukak la waze. oh lupa, aku ada beli simkad kt sana. 1.5gb 25k rupiah dlm rm7 lebih cmtu la... bukak waze pun mcm pening gak. sbb waze ni set jln keta. kt bandung ni da la bnyk one way, so hotel tu dekat je tapi dia bantai jalan jauh utk U turn. ktorg cuba la jalan kaki tp mcm susah sikit la. tp boleh la last skali dpt la balik ke hotel, sbb xjauh pun.

 Diorg ni mmg suka protes. tapi ok je. siap polis escort lagi. kalau negara kita. hmmm...

sampai hotel tgk ada la beberapa org yg dah balik. yelah sbb hujan punya pasal. kitorg duduk jap dlm 10-15 minit kt lobi tu, lepas tu naik bilik mandi, solat. lelap jap dlm 40minit cmtu. dlm kul 4.45 cmtu turun bwh nk makan. ktorg makan kt restoran hotel je. order nasi goreng. ok la xla mahal sgt. rasa pun sedap la gak. aku ngn fawas berdua je mkn.sbb mkn kt area lobi tu so jumpa ramai gak la org. ada yg baru balik, ada yg nek keluar pulak etc. lepak la jap kt situ. smpai kul 7 gak la. pastu naik bilik.

kul 8 turun pulak utk mkn mlm. ak ngn fawas xde la lapar mana, sbb baru je makan. tp follow je diorg ni ajak makan. memula aku & fawas igt nk g usha2 la kedai2 kt site ktorg sbb dekat je ngn hotel, ngn ahli group, tapi pastu  ada a few lg yg follow. odie, ngn anas. sempi la, lg ramai lg best. ktorg makan kt satu kedai ni bsar gak la. memula igt biasa2 je, tapi EG ckp mmg kt situ recommended kt internet. heran jugak, kedai dia mmg besar, tapi xramai pun. tapi bila makanan sampai mmg sedap la. harga bleh tahan murah, portion pun bnyk sedap. aku susah nak habiskan sbb bnyk. lgpn baru je lagi mkn. jarang la aku mkn xhabis. hoho...

balik tu lepak kt lobi. main kad. game bluffing tu la. best gilo. 3 round gak la. mmg enjoy habis. sempoi gila oide & anas. lepas habis main, sembang2 la pulak. bawak smpai dkt kul 12 lebih rasanya. pstu aku naik la bilik, malas nk tido lewat.

esok pagi tu berkumpul kt bawah kul 8cmtu. harini tak g site. nk jalan2. dah last day la katakan. breakfast kt area site ktorg tu. sebelah kedai yg mkn mlm smlm. lacamera coffee. cafe hipster. org yg sama jugak. ada ada group lain yg follow gak ke situ. huhu. ktorg org 1st customer. baru buka. early bird sgt. lol. pagi2 da mkn western. mkn berat trus la, lepas ni xtahu lagi nk jadi apa. kui3... g ke pasar baru nk shopping. fawas nak beli kt wife dia. alan nak beli kwn2 mak dia kirim. aku g sana saje je. kot la ada apa2 beli la. tp aku rasa tak. aku plg benci shopping.

g kt pasar baru tu jgn cerita la. aku mmg aku rasa nak mengamuk je. benci betul aku ngn tempat shopping ni. xyah la cerita lebih2, silap2 mencarut kang. pendek cerita lepas habis tu cepat2 keluar dari pasar baru tu. balik ke hotel naik teksi sbb brang bnyk, nak naik beca pun mcm sama je ngn teksi sbb kena naik 3 beca. lol
tapi naik teksi tu kena ketuk gila2. memula ada yg mntk 80k, 60k. mahal la. mcm rm20 cmtu kot. padahal jln dlm 1km je. kalo dia ikut jln keta pun sbb situ bnyk one way plg jauh pun 2.5km. nak charge smpai rm20? kalo rm20 tu teksi sini dr puncak alam boleh sampai tol guthrie. lepas tu ada teksi ckp boleh 30. so kami pun naik. dah sampai hotel, hlur 30k rupiah, rupanya dia nak rm30. hoi, rasa nak mencarut je. menipu. sial la. bagi je lah, nak buat cemana. patut amek je teksi 60k tadi. baru rm6 mcmtu. grrrr....

jadi smpai hotel, letak barang, lepastu yg lain keluar. msa tu dah kul 2. aku xg pun. malas. duk je bilik. tido. ptg sikit dlm kul 3stgh aku kuar nak makan. sorg je jalan punya jln xde jumpa kedai makan yg boleh percaya nak masuk. bnyk gerai kecik, ada restoran tapi lambang beer besar gajah, ada mcm bistro, ada kedai mkn yg dah tutup, last2 aku mkn kt hotel je. haha.

lepastu kul 7 stgh tu kuar mkn, g balik kt kedai mlm semalam. ciendog. xleh blah dowh nama. kali ramai sikit. best. lepas makan tu, fawas ajak jln tgk2 site jap. aku pun follow je la. sggh jap convenient store nak habiskan duit pecah. syiling2 dan duit kecik sbb nnt money changer xterima.

sampai hotel tu duduk kejap je lepas tu naik bilik r. xnk da lepak. penat. lgpn esok nk bgun awal kot. teksi smpai kul 5.45 kot. berkumpul 5stgh. so nak bangun kul brpa? kurang2 kul 4.45 dah bangun. mlm tu aku tido kul 12 rasanya. bangun kul 4suku. ketuk bilik2 floor aku. sambil2 update kt group whatsapp. naik teksi smpai airport 40k rupiah dlm 15 minit. nak masuk airport pun kena ada tiket & boarding pass. airport dia tak da ruang. masuk pintu tu kira terus dia punya check in. nk tunggu2 kt luar. haha. kecik je airportnye. so aku ada bekal air kotak ngn keropok makan siap2. dah masuk tu lepas check point yg kedua dah xleh bwk masuk air da. flight kul 8.45. sampai dlm tu, lepas proses2 semua tu tunggu la kt balai pelepasan. kt situ ada kiosk makanan mmg laku la. semua org beli situ. air, roti, kuih, muffin, kek etc. lepas tu naik flight.

mcmtu la citenyee. maka tamatlah studio trip kami ke bandung. overall trip ni biasa2 la. xde la best mana. tapi xde la boring ke ape ke. ok gak la. sbb aku bukan suka sgt travel ni. tapi aku mmg selalu travel. terpaksa. follow family dan trip2 mcmni la. huhu
utk perbelanjaan kt sana aku tuka rm475 bersamaan rp 1 390 000 (1.3juta). sepanjang aku kt sana lebih kurg 4 hari aku habis dlm 750k lebih je. lebih kurg separuh yg aku bawa. utk makan, transport, dan barang sikit. ada la aku beli souvenier sikit. sikit je xbnyk. xsmpai pun 200k.
