Before i began, let me ask you 1 question.

-hot
-artistic
-corporate company
-building
-bringing big bulky plans around
well, its all true, but need more elaboration.
Architecture is basicly the harmonious combination of art and science to tackle design problems it involve the specific study of physics, human biomechanics(anthropometrics & ergonomics), enviromental analysis, social study of human behaviour and other surrounding components.
As a short, architect is engineer, contractor, artist, social science experts, physchioterapist, enviromental engineer, and planner.
As an architecture student, there is a lot to learn, a lot to do in short period of time. you need a very creative artistic and technicalway of thinking. its a very busy like a race to chase time. its a long course with 6 years to complete bachelor degree( part 2) with an external exam to gain licensed.
To define more about what architecture is, the basic fundamnetal of art and design and technicalities should be known first.
the first is to tackle design problems. mostly its all bout flow of people, space planning, and sustainability.
Apart from the technicalities and practicality, architecture is dare to be different.
Its not about a regular bored design. Unique design is plus!
Architecture is about phylosophy. even the most absic design have its own phylosophy.
The design should have deep meaning of its idea and concept from where it is derived.
The core of the design comes from the start.. its called design process. this proces is very detail, tiring and gruesome process which involve case studies on the particular issue.
Later on when it comes in doing it, it come to the more complicated process. The management.
When it comes on architect on practice, as a lead consultant, managing the project is by far the thoughest task to complete. duration of the project 2-4 years, thousands of things can go wrong and those problem need to be solve. countless meetings, sleepless night, tons of paperwork, thousands of hours of manwork.
As you all know, creating something out of nothing is very difficult. Creating something different is another story. Creating things that work is another story. Creating something that is all artistic & meet phylosophical thingking is whole other level. This all can be summarised as,
wait for it
'ARCHITECTURE!'
lastly the masterpiece is born.
